The woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after being involved in a collision in which Life claimed to be another driver.
The crash occurred Sunday evening near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and West Broadway in Anaheim, according to the Anaheim Police Department.
Around 10pm, the first responder arrived at the scene of a collision between two vehicles, including a red crossover SUV and a white Volkswagen sedan.
The SUV driver was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be rescued by firefighters on the scene using heavy machinery. She was eventually cut out of the wreckage and taken to a local hospital with major injuries.
She died about an hour after crashing, police said. She is only identified as a 56-year-old Long Beach resident.
The Volkswagen driver, 29-year-old Samantha Faris of Boona Park, was also taken to hospital to treat her injuries.

Traffic detectives determined that Faris would make a direct left turn in front of the SUV, causing a fatal collision. Witnesses told police that Faris may have been drinking at a nearby business just before the crash, leading to the start of a DUI investigation.
“There was a possible cause for a chance that while drunk, Faris could have believed he was driving the car in an unsafe way,” Anaheim Police wrote in a news release.
After being medically cleaned up from the hospital, Faris was placed in prison to await influence and charges of driving on manslaughter of a general vehicle.
Officials said Faris was released Monday morning after posting bail.
