A woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing nearly $1,000 worth of wine from an Orange County retailer.
Irvine police said the suspect was identified as Rosemary Alteaga Morphin, 32, of Anaheim.
On July 12, license plate readers warned police on vehicles connected to known shoplifters in the Irvine area. Shortly afterwards, workers at the Pavilion grocery store called police and reported that they saw the woman run out of the market with a bottle of wine worth $1,000.
The officers were later reportedly caught tracking a woman at a nearby Target store where she exchanged price tags for the item.

Police detained her on scene. While searching for her car, they found inside a notable collection of methamphetamine and stolen ID cards and wine bottles.
Morphin was arrested for shoplifting, identity theft, prior conviction and possession of a controlled substance, including possession of drug paraphernalia.
“Her plan to commit a crime in Irvine has turned to sour grapes and a stay at the Orange County Jail,” Irvine police said in a Facebook post.
