The woman sitting in her living room was hit by a stray bullet fired into a San Bernardino County home last week by a man involved in a nearby domestic conflict, authorities said Thursday.
Lawmakers responded to a shooting in the 3000 block of Duffy Street, Muscoy, around 11am on February 12th and contacted the victims.
“A bullet traveled through the victim’s residence and eventually hit her in the upper body. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Investigators learned that the shooting was the result of a domestic conflict between the suspects and that it was identified as Vitorna, 46-year-old Mascoy, and another woman.
“During the conflict, Luna released her firearm and ultimately hit the first female victim,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
Luna escaped the area with a Nissan Pathfinder after the shooting, but was arrested a few days later after an arrest warrant was provided at his residence.
Luna was booked for alleged firearm assault, firearm negligence discharge, false imprisonment and spousal abuse.
He is in custody on $350,000 bail, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
