One woman died and three others were hospitalized after two townhomes caught fire overnight in Panorama City.
The fire was first reported around 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 9200 block of Wakefield Avenue, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department emergency alert.
There were four people in one of the townhomes, LAFD Cpt. Adam Van Gerpen confirmed with KTLA shortly after 6 a.m. that three of the victims were hospitalized in stable condition. Two of the victims were identified as a 25-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman. The age of the third person was not listed.
A fourth person, identified only as an adult female, was found dead in a downstairs bedroom. Van Gerpen said.

“When firefighters arrived on scene, the townhome was fully engulfed in flames and there was heavy fire,” he said. “The fire spread to the attic and adjoining units.As a result, two townhouses sustained significant fire damage, but firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other units within the complex. ”
A woman was caught on video setting her car on fire at a Hollywood gas station.
Thick smoke billowed into the night sky and flames were seen shooting from the top of the building as more than 70 firefighters carried out an aggressive internal firefighting operation.
The two residences were red tagged, Corporal. Van Gerpen said.
Workers are expected to remain on site for several hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
