Authorities identified the woman who was found dead in a Santa Clarita apartment last week as a local college student and will seek help in identifying anyone interested on Thursday morning.
Lawmakers were conducting welfare checks in the Newhall community when they discovered the victim had passed away on February 4, 2025. Investigators later determined the death was murder.
“Mengan Juan, 23, was murdered at the Vista Mansion Complex, 21334 Nandinarene,” the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Although the release provided no further details about the murder, the Sheriff’s Office said Zhuang was a student at the California Institute of Arts, about five miles away in Valencia.
Investigators are also trying to identify someone of interest called a man who saw him enter Zhuang’s apartment the night before and say he will leave the window in her two-storey bedroom on the day her body is found. He said that.
Details about the person of interest will be shared at a press conference scheduled for 11am, with officials asking the public for help in identifying him.
Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the LA County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Department at 323-890-5500. Those who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers by dialing 800-222-8477 or visit the lacrimestoppers.org website.
