Two Los Angeles women said they are overcoming their worst nightmare. Their father is taken away by immigration agents.
Cousins Katia Garcia and America Ordonez leaned against each other on Monday when they joined other families to demand the release of workers detained from the fashion district clothing business on Friday.
Garcia ran to a clothing store with an atmosphere, where she worked immediately after her father found out about the attack. She said her father, an undocumented immigrant, has been working in the fashion district for years.
After desperately trying to get a glimpse of her father while standing outside the store on Friday, she received a call from her father on Saturday that he was in an immigration facility in Adelanto. The call was made without notification and without information on how to reach out to Garcia’s dad.
“(We’re) very devastated,” she said. “We’re just trying to stick there and get more information.”
Garcia’s cousin Ordonez also ran to the clothing district where his father worked. Her undocumented father confirmed that he was OK just to capture the moment when his father was detained by immigration agents.
“I love you,” Aldnez cried to her dad while crying on the video.
Ordnez pledged to do everything he could to bring his father and uncle back into the house.
“We’re being held strong, they need to keep strong too,” she said.
The cousin said they are working to keep their lawyers and continue to fight for their father.
“We’re here for them. We’re waiting for them to come back. We hope they come back,” Garcia said.
