A Hawaiian woman disappeared after missing her connecting flight to New York at Los Angeles International Airport after sending a cryptic message to her family, according to her family and police.

Hannah Kobayashi, 31, was last seen at LAX on Nov. 8 and last contacted her family by phone on Nov. 9, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. . She is described as 5-foot-10 tall, weighing 140 pounds, and having brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a “knife” tattoo on her forearm and freckles on her face.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed Friday that a missing persons report had been filed, but no other information or updates were available. Anyone with more information is asked to contact the LAPD at (877) 527-3247.

Kobayashi boarded a plane in Maui on Nov. 8, stopping at Los Angeles International Airport before heading to New York City, but never arrived, her family told USA Today.

She landed at LAX, but apparently missed the next flight and instead planned to visit the Grove Shopping Center, where she attended a Nike event on Nov. 10, her family told USA Today. On November 11, Kobayashi apparently returned to Los Angeles International Airport, but did not board the plane. Later that day, she sent her family a so-called “weird” text message.

“Hannah’s last message to us was alarming. She was scared and said someone might be trying to steal her money and identity,” the family said. spoke. “She has not been heard from since then and we are extremely concerned for her safety.”

Kobayashi also texted a friend that someone might be trying to steal her identity and money, her father, Ryan, told KABC-TV. Her cell phone’s last known location was at LAX, but it is now dead or turned off.

“She felt like she was in danger,” he said. “She felt like someone was trying to get her identity and her phone.”

Kobayashi’s aunt, Larry Pidgeon, told KABC that her niece plans to attend the event in New York.

“She’s very responsible. She was really looking forward to this event,” she said. “The hotel rooms she booked were thousands of dollars, and the tickets to the events were hundreds of dollars.”
