A murder investigation into the discovery of a woman’s body in a Thousand Oaks hotel room is underway after a man called authorities Monday night, claiming he had killed his fiance.
A Ventura County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson confirmed that a man called in about a death at the Palm Garden Hotel in the 400 block of North Ventu Park Road around 10:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, who was wearing dark clothing, black boots, and a jacket, and took him into custody.
Inside the hotel, officers found a woman’s body in one of the rooms. Information regarding her identity has not been released.
The suspect was seen being carried away on a stretcher and loaded into an ambulance.
Freelance media company RMG News reported that the man told Dispatch that he had suicidal thoughts after strangling his fiance the day before and leaving her in the room with her body.
Authorities have not confirmed how the woman was killed or details about the events surrounding her death.
Investigators said they believed the suspect acted alone and there was no public safety issue.
The hotel has not been evacuated, but the investigation is ongoing, a spokeswoman said.
