Authorities identified a woman who was shot dead by an officer during a standoff on Wednesday after leading police across the San Fernando Valley on the anniversary.
The Los Angeles Police Department said officers first found 42-year-old Claudia Kolged in a white van with multiple bullet holes in the windshield after receiving a call about a possible shooting on Sherman Way on Coldwater Canyon Avenue, North Hollywood, around 7:15am on Monday.
Kolged, who had a felony warrant, refused to surrender, pointed out what appeared to be a black semi-automatic pistol in his throat while driving recklessly, LAPD said.
When Van of Colged stopped at Arcana Road in Woodland Hills, she and the officers were at one point sitting on the van in conflict with the suspect.
LAPD said after more than an hour of negotiations with the SWAT team, the woman began walking towards the main entrance of the residence, holding a pistol and a large machete. Police say when officers fired fire and collapsed her near the front door of the residence.
The pistol turned out to be a BB gun designed to look like a semi-automatic weapon, police said.
Kolged, who was taken to hospital for a gunshot wound, was booked for a felony avoidance charge.
