Xavier Beterra, former U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary and former California Attorney General, announced Wednesday morning that he was running for governor of California.
“California is at a crossroads. Working families, from housing to healthcare, childcare and college, are facing an affordable crisis. California’s dreams are slipping. I am running to the governor to fight for that dream, to build a stronger and more affordable California for anyone and to take on the bullies who get in our way,” Becerra said.
Becerra made the announcement in a social media post on Platform X.
“Whether protecting from wage theft, standing up for parents and dreamers who need hospitals for their children, or fighting for clean air and water. I’m always driven by construction and administrative workers, immigration to America, and California values that gave me the chance to win my dreams,” Betera continued. “It’s now time to take on California’s biggest challenges. We tackle surged prices, keeping streets and businesses safe, and growing economical pie for the next generation of hardworking Californians.”
I’m running to become California’s next governor.
As an AG I took on Trump – and won. As a secretary to HHS, I took on Big Pharma and won. Let’s do it again for California. Rebuild your California dreams for everyone.
