(KTLA) – Two New York Yankees fans who blocked Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts from catching a foul ball during the World Series have been suspended indefinitely from MLB games, the New York Post reports. It was reported on Friday.
The incident occurred in the first inning of Game 4 when Betts caught a foul ball from Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres along the right field line. Video and replays showed fans, identified as Austin Capobianco and his friend Jon Peter, grabbing Betts’ glove and free hand as he tried to secure the ball.
The referee immediately ejected Torres for fan interference, and stadium security removed the fans. They were also banned from the series finale, Game 5 at Yankee Stadium.

In a letter from Major League Baseball officials obtained by the New York Post, the league told Capobianco and Peter: “Your actions posed a serious risk to the health and safety of players and are not acceptable fan conduct.” “It was far beyond the line.” Because of your actions, Major League Baseball will ban you indefinitely from all MLB stadiums, offices, and other facilities. ”
The league also said if they showed up at MLB facilities or events, they could be removed and arrested for trespassing.
The paper said both fans were using season ticket holder seats and would be allowed to keep their seats.
