As the Extreme Heat grasps Los Angeles County this summer, the Metropolitan Los Angeles YMCA offers important resources to keep young adults and families safe and cool.
With 26 branches extending from Antelope Valley to San Pedro, Y is expanding access to free and low-cost programs that are kept safely in air-conditioned spaces during the hottest months of the year.
Free Summer Membership for Teens
One of the most popular seasonal offerings at the YMCA is summer free memberships for teens ages 12-18. This membership includes full access to gym facilities, indoor recreation and opening hours, providing a safe and cool space throughout the summer.
Expanding access to water safety programs
YMCA’s commitment to water safety and access is stronger than this year. The complete lineup of swimming lessons focused on opening hours, family swimming times and preventing drowning, allowing families to beat the fever while learning essential life-saving skills.
Discount swimming lessons with member perks
Currently, swimming lessons are offered at up to 50% off, making them more accessible to everyone. YMCA members are also eligible for priority registration for future youth and family programs.
Special support for families affected by the fire
For those affected by the catastrophic fires in January, the YMCA offers free summer camp registration, free membership and financial support across all programs.
Free youth sports with family members
Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the free youth program with active family membership. These include Jr. It includes partnerships with Clippers Basketball, LA Galaxy Soccer and LA Kings Ball Hockey.
