The FBI is investigating the death of a National Park Service worker discovered by law enforcement last week with “severe injuries,” according to the National Park Service.
The National Park Service said in a statement to NBC News Friday that law enforcement discovered a 34-year-old woman from Fresno, California, injured in an employee housing unit in Yosemite Valley on March 20th.
The federal agency did not describe her injuries or specify whether it appears to be related to the crime. However, it said it would work with the sheriff’s office and the FBI to investigate the deaths of the workers.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI confirmed their involvement in the investigation in separate emails.
None of the officials identified the woman, but NPS said she was a Yosemite hospitality employee.
Law enforcement was called to the housing force to respond to reports of a medical emergency when it found an injured worker, according to the sheriff’s office.
The worker was taken to a Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California, where he died the following day, according to Tony Botty, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
