Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Dog Helped Frighten Intruders at LA Home – NBC Los Angeles

Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s barking dog and staff who turned on the lights helped to block attempted robbery at a Hollywood Hills home in Dodger Fenom this week, law enforcement told the NBC4 investigation.

The attempted robbery was reported early Wednesday morning. The three jumped over the back fence around 5:30am and smashed the rear glass door, but never entered the residence, authorities said.

Nothing was taken from the property.

The staff were at home at the time and turned on the lights. Law enforcement told NBC4’s investigation Thursday, coupled with aggressive barking from Yamamoto dogs and burglars turning their tails. Someone in the house called a private security guard and called the police.

A video from NewsChopper4 showed the dog by the pool at home late Wednesday morning. In an interview with Spectrum Sports, Yamamoto said he had recruited dogs from an animal shelter.

“My mother has always loved animals since I was a child because my mother worked in a veterinary clinic,” Yamamoto said in an interview earlier this year through an interpreter. “Last year, my mother visited me in Los Angeles while I was in Illinois. She wanted to visit an animal shelter, so we went there and fell in love with my dog. So I adopted him.”

Private security members were on the scene of the car without a mark. Authorities are trying to determine how the intruder bypassed the officers.

The dog runs by the pool of Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s house.

Police said NBC4 is investigating that private security employers should place them on vehicles marked to provide visual deterrence.

No arrests have been reported, but law enforcement sources said three people were seen on security camera video. Police watching security camera video are trying to determine whether the crime is linked to one of the many robbery crews operating in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers were putting together a series against the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old from Japan is 9-7 and has a 2.63 ERA this season. He pitched seven innings on Monday, giving up nine hits in the Dodgers’ 5-2 victory and hit a nine.

Below are five things you need to know about Japanese star pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

The attempted robbery is the latest crime targeting the homes of professional athletes across Los Angeles and across the country. The Dodgers, Rams and LAFC players are all recent targets.

A break-in was reported at the homes of Dodgers infielders Max Muncie and Freddie Freeman in 2023.

In December, the FBI issued a warning to professional sports leagues about athletes displaying valuables on social media. Best Practice Memos, part of the standard practice of communicating with businesses and businesses about related crime trends, urged athletes to limit images of valuables on social media.
