You can hit the ramp at this new indoor skate park

Vintage Land wants to be a one-stop weekend destination. In addition to the weekly rooftop Ross Ferris Flea Market, newly upgraded tournament-grade pickle ball courts and a collection of virtual reality escape rooms that opened last year, the multipurpose space is adding skateboards to its offering list. (Note that despite the market being called Ross Ferries Free, Vintage Land is actually between Angelino Heights and Chinatown.)

Grind House, a new indoor skate park called “Celebration of Skate Culture,” will open as a hub for the skating community on the first floor of Vintage Land. Expect ramps and rails courtesy of half-pipes, bowls, street-style features, and sharp lamps owned and operated by skaters.

Grind House is open to skaters of all skill levels. Beginner Total has lessons from expert instructors to veteran strengths who can practice drop-in, grind and practice tricks in custom-built gnar parks. You can peek into the renderings of the new space and then look forward to street art on the wall, shopping from local vendors, and booths where DJs will provide skate session soundtracks.

Skateparks are usually a membership base like clubs, but on one day (September 29th) Vintage Land will introduce Grindhouse to the world, full of free skates from 11am to 5pm. (The grand opening is unmanageable with Los Feliz Flea, so you can shred and shop on the same day.)

However, skates aren’t the only ones being offered at the grand opening. Tattoo artists, including @ponchotheartist, will be live live, regardless of whether they want to get their tattoos themselves or observe their artistry in the future. You can also meet local skaters and buy boards and skate accessories.

After the next Saturday, you will have to become a member of skating at the grindhouse, so the grand opening will offer you the opportunity to try it out before committing. If you like what you’re looking for, membership starts at $50 a month. After you run out of these passes, you will need to pay a $10 fee for the remaining visits within a month. Accessible from 11am to 5pm Tuesday through Saturday, and Grindhouse Tuesday through 5pm. For serious skaters, premium membership is $125 a month (low 10-day pass and 5-day low $5 fees), earning extra time for both early and slow access to the ramp, as well as 20% off on permanent onsite lockers and grindhouse march. And both memberships will give you the most valuable thing you can find at Ross Ferris: Park in a free lot.

The membership model means that if you’re not a skater, you can’t casually take a walk and casually watch the gravitational tricks (all Venice skate parks are free), but the adjacent Grindhouse’s downtown area is more central than Venice, and will meet the needs of skaters who don’t live in the West.

Grind House will be located on the first floor of Vintage Land at 1030 Alpine St. after its grand opening on March 29th, with the skatepark opens from standard members Tuesday until 5am and premium members 10am to 6pm. Find more information and sign up for a membership on the Grind House website.
