Newou can listen to Fox News articles!

The 25-year-old social media influencer and progressive activist hopes to follow in the footsteps of Zohran Mamdani and retract a spectacular and difficult victory in the prominent Democratic Congress primary.

Deja Foxx is the youngest of five candidates running in Tuesday’s primary to fill the seat of late Arizona Democrat Raul Grijalva, and died in March of complications related to cancer treatment.

The Democrat and Republican primary winners face off in a special election on September 23rd, serving the final 15 months of Grillarva’s term in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District, extending from Tucson to Yuma and is a very blue district that includes almost the entire length of the state’s southern border with Mexico.

Raul Griarba of Arizona died at the age of 77.

Deja Foxx (Deja Foxx Campaign) is the Democratic Congressional candidate for the special election in Arizona’s 7th Congressional District on June 28, 2025.

“This moment requires more than a politician. You deserve a fighter,” Foxx said in a social media post. “This is more than a campaign. It’s a move. This is a fight for our future.”

Fox, who went viral as a teenager over reproductive rights to then-Republican Sen. Jeff Flake, enjoys the support of gun control crusader David Hogg, who recently resigned from his position to “long sleep” called “long sleep” to get him in the long-standing district after party leaders have retreated his efforts after he has retreated his efforts.

Hogg, who campaigned at FOXX across the district last weekend, predicts that he will “make history in southwestern Arizona.”

He also won the New York mayor’s Democratic nomination by comparing the surge in polls on the final day of his primary campaign with the vote count for Mamdani, a 33-year-old Ugandan-born state legislator who headed the former government of Andrew Cuomo and nine other candidates last month.

Like New York City’s mayoral primary, the Southern Arizona contest is considered by many political commentators as a barometer of where Democrats are headed when the party deals with long-standing divisions between establishment and outsiders, and long-standing divisions between progressive, medium-wings.

The race frontrunner appears to be 54-year-old former Pima County manager Adelita Griarva. He is the daughter of the late Congressman.

She enjoys supporting the state’s top Democrats, including Senator Mark Kelly and Reuben Gallego, state Attorney General Chris Mays and former Rep. Gabriel Gifford.

Grillarva is supported by two top progressive champions, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Sen. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.

Former state lawmaker Daniel Hernandez, Indigenous activist and academic Jose Malvid Jr. and former healthcare executive Patrick Harris Sr. are running for the Democratic nomination in the majority Hispanic district, where Democrats surpass Republicans by a 2-1 margin.

More than $2 million has been cooked to run advertisements in the Democratic primary, with some money coming from outside groups.

Contractor and small business owner Daniel Butierrez, restaurant owner Jorge Rivas and general contractor and vehicle accessories business owner Jimmy Rodriguez are fighting for a Republican Congressional nomination in the district.

Voting in the district is near 7pm local time (10pm ET) and results will not be announced until an hour after the vote ends.
