Is the next dog basketball star sitting at your house now?
Robert Vince, creator of the “Air Bud” franchise, recently announced that he and his team are looking for a dog star for the 15th and 15th “Air Bud Returns” series.
“We introduced the world to an incredible retriever called Airbud,” Vince said. “For the first time, we’re going to hold an audition for the next airbud.”
“Returns” is the latest in a long-term franchise that began with “Air Bud” in 1997. The Disney-released film follows a tween named Josh and encounters a chance with that stray golden retriever, leading the dog to become a star of Josh’s school basketball team.

The film was followed by the theatrical sequel, “Air Bud: Golden Receiver.” Nevertheless, “Air Bud” (1997) remains a beloved family film, and surprisingly, the sequel that follows directly on the video continues to be popular. Until at least the 12th time, the franchise was raked for at least $220 million, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

What is an “Airbud Return”?
The sequel to Metatextual follows 12-year-olds who dream of becoming star basketball players. After his father passed away, he discovered an original VHS copy of the “Airbud” film at his childhood home, following a July 24th announcement from Cineverse.
But like the original “Airbud,” a chance encounter with a golden retriever named Buddy begins a healing journey that brings together championship pursuits and non-conforming teams,” Cineverse said.
“Air Bud Returns” is currently scheduled to be released in a theatrical fashion next summer. It will be the first film in the series since 1998.
