A San Bernardino County man has been arrested after being accused of committing the threat of killing President Donald Trump, according to the US Department of Justice.
Federal officials allege that Thomas Eugene Strebel, 73, of Yucca Valley, poses various assassinations threats against Trump after last year’s election. The man faces three counts of threatening to assassinate the president.
According to federal officials, Streavel made several threatening Facebook posts before the 2024 presidential election. The day after the election, the suspect allegedly published a post with the words “” written on it.[T]Lamp is a dead man walking for a while until a patriot like me blows him [expletive] The brain will come out in the very near future. ”
The US Department of Justice claims that Streavel made several similar posts on Facebook on three other dates in November. [expletive] And my mission will begin tonight, so please look at your own cards [sic]you’re dead [expletive] And I am your assassin. ”
Attorney General Pamela Bondi said the Department of Justice will “accept these threats to the greatest extent and prosecute this crime to the fullest extent of the law.”
“This defendant is being charged with threatening our president’s life. He is already a man who has survived two crazy attempts in his life,” Bondy said in a statement.
Streavel was arrested Monday and Tuesday. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and faced the trial date on July 28th. The defendant was released on a $10,000 bond.
If convicted, the man will be sentenced to prison for up to five years for each count.
