Ukrainian President Voldimi Zelensky called the White House meeting last Tuesday “disappointing” and said he was ready to pursue peace under President Donald Trump’s leadership.
Zelenskyy made concessions in a lengthy statement posted on social media on Tuesday, saying Ukraine is “ready to come to the negotiation table.” He added that last week’s meeting “didn’t go the way it was supposed to be,” and said, “it’s time to get things right.”
“My team and I are ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership and will have peace that continues,” Zelensky wrote.
“We are ready to work quickly to end the war, with the first stage being the release of prisoners and a ceasefire in the air. No missiles, long-range drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and if Russia does the same, it’s immediately a ceasefire in the ocean.
Zelenskyy will speak out after the release with Trump, Vance is “bad for both parties,” says Dustup.
“We really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence, and we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump offered javelins to Ukraine.

“Our meeting in Washington on Friday was not the way it was supposed to be. It’s a shame that it happened in this way. We hope that future cooperation and communications will be constructive regarding the minerals and security agreements. Ukraine is always ready to sign in a convenient form. Zelenskyy concluded.

Zelenskyy’s statement comes after White House national security adviser Mike Waltz called Zelensky’s clash with Trump “silly” in his Monday appearance on Fox News. Waltz said Trump’s White House needs to hear Zelensky “remorrows what happened” and he now needs to hear that he is “ready to engage in peace negotiations.”

The drawing of the hostilities mentioned in Zelenskyy’s statement reflects what was proposed by European leaders in a meeting with Zelenskyy on Sunday.
British Prime Minister Kiel Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron have proposed a 30-day freezing strikes from the air, sea and energy infrastructure in Ukraine. Macron told French media that windows could be used to negotiate a wider peace agreement.
Trump’s White House has not yet weighed the proposal.

A statement from Zelenskyy came within a day when Trump suspended all aid to Ukraine on Monday night. A senior Trump administration official also told Fox News that military aid will be on hold until Ukrainian leaders show a commitment to a sincere peace negotiations.

“This is not a permanent termination of aid, it is a suspension,” the official emphasized. “The order is now on.”
