An investigation is underway after a man allegedly killed his wife in a garden globe while his two children were at home was said to have been involved in a shooting several hours away in San Joaquin County.

Garden Grove police responded to a home in the 11,500 block of Morgan Lane after calling 911 on Thursday morning after reporting that their mother needed help.

Officers arrived at the scene and entered the home where 37-year-old Crystal Gonzalez was found dead from a private injury.

Miguel Lopez, 35, the woman’s husband and father of two boys in the family, was identified as a suspect, but was found nowhere, according to the Garden Grove Police Department.

The children were unharmed and were unaware of what had happened, police said. They have been removed from the home and efforts are underway to connect them with their close family.

The family was staying at the Garden Groves home, but they are resident of Loddy, Central Valley, police said.

Shortly after police began searching for Lopez, they were informed that his car was in Stockton and that local police were on the scene.

Since then, investigators know that Lopez left his Orange County home early Thursday morning and are believed to have driven more than 350 miles north to Stockton, where he was involved in the shooting.

Garden Globe police did not say whether he was arrested, saying no additional information would be released to “protect the integrity of the investigation.”

Anyone with information relating to a local murder investigation is encouraged to contact GGPD detective Rogers at 714-741-5413.

This is the second major murder involving the Garden Globe family this week.

On Monday, three all-related men were involved in the altercation, which became violent, one man was shot in death and a second was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect in the shooting was arrested.
