A San Bernardino County man suspected of owning and distributing child abuse material was injured while attempting to destroy evidence, officials said Friday.

The Redlands Police Department said officers arrested suspect Alexander Wein Ducateau, 26, at his home in Mobile Park in the 13,000 block of Fifth Avenue in Yucaipa on Thursday.

Police say Wine Ducateau hurt a finger trying to dig into the hard drive while detectives were running a search warrant at home. He refused treatment.

The department said the detectives had taken several people from the house before the search. Police did not immediately provide information about other residents.

During the search, detectives seized multiple electronic devices, and later investigators found more than 100 images of child sexual abuse.

Officers arrested Wein Ducateau and held him at West Valley Detention Center Friday evening for possession and distribution of destruction of child sexual abuse material and evidence.

“This study is part of an ongoing operation of internet crimes against a children’s community task force known as Online Guardian 2.0.

Anyone with more information about this or child sexual abuse case will be asked to contact Redlands Police Detective Dale Peters at 909-798-7659.
