WASHINGTON – President Donald Trump spoke on Saturday night at a historic military parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army.
“Every other nations celebrate victory,” he said. “That was when America did it too. That’s what we’re doing tonight.”
“When we celebrate tonight, we also consider hundreds of thousands of Army soldiers who have made the highest sacrifices for our nation, from revolutions to war on terror, to Goldstar families with us today,” he said.

He called the Army’s most famous leader, General George Washington, the “indomitable commander,” and laid out many of the major US victories from the revolution: Gettysburg, Guadalcanal, Shiro, San Juan Hill, Argonne Trench, Afghanistan Mountain Tennisci.
Through them, “The military has built a legacy of unparalleled courage, immeasurable sacrifices, and an unparalleled glory,” Trump said.
He spoke of Union Commander General John Cols, who shot in the face at the Battle of Aratoona Pass near Cartersville, Georgia.
“He fired a message to the commander. “I have short cheekbones and one ear, but I can whip hell out of them all,” Trump said.
He also cited General Anthony Wayne. Anthony Wayne was from Pennsylvania, known for his military fortitude, like Cols.

Trump said he led a midnight raid on the Palisade cliff near Bear Mountain in New York, and led the midnight raid with only ammunition that would take on the British during the revolution. Wayne walked the order and declared to Washington: “Please issue an order.
Trump either sat the rest of the parade or often stood to salute the troops, with First Lady Melania Trump and the Secretary of Defense pinned between Defense Secretary Pete Hegses.

The crowd applauded Trump as he arrived with First Lady Melania Trump. This involves an introduction with a gun salute, as attendees chanted “America!” Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance also received extensive applause during the introduction.
Live music poured into the crowd before the parade as parade fans swayed by the music as they incited themselves in the DC heat in the summer. The crowds were heard singing “Happy Birthday” after the parade officially began, chanting “We Love Trump.”

The parade begins near the Lincoln Memorial and closes near the Washington memorial at about 9:30pm, with the parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US military, which was established one year before the Declaration of Independence, and coincides with Flag Day and Trump’s 79th birthday.
The patriotic event is part of Trump’s “Task Force 250,” established in January by an executive order and a plan to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence on July 4, 2026.
The parade included Army Golden Knights parachute teams jump overheads, multiple overpasses, World War II jeeps on display, and members of the army riding the crowd as they waving at the crowd and chasing Constitutional Avenue.
But the parade comes as riots and protests continue in Los Angeles over the Trump administration’s efforts to expel millions of illegal foreigners who have flooded the country after Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran on Thursday evening during the Biden administration.
The parade faced stormy weather, with predictors predicting thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and raining in the evening.

Protests in response to the military parades in Los Angeles and recent ice attacks have been unfolding in cities across the country. In Washington, a “Equity March” in downtown D.C. and a “Democratic Picnic” in Forturino Park was scheduled for Saturday, previously reported by Fox News Digital.
The security of the event was very close, with Secret Service, police officers and military personnel stationed along the entrance checkpoints and walking among the crowds of people. Participants also had to go through the metal detector and receive an additional puttdown to reach the parade route.
“No Kings” protesters protested on DC’s proper Saturday, but gathered what they were saying “king” in cities across the country. Instead, these protests took place in nearby towns and cities, including Alexandria and Virginia cities in Arlington.

Trump was asked about the “king” protest at Thursday’s bill signing event at the White House.
“I don’t feel like a king,” Trump replied. “I have to go through hell to get what is approved. The king will say, ‘I’m not going to get this.’ The king would have never even spoken to California.
“No, we are not kings. We are not kings.”
Trump previously said potential violent protesters targeting the parade would be filled with “very heavy forces.”

“If they come out, if there’s a protest, they’ll meet with such a great deal,” Trump told reporters Tuesday. “I haven’t even heard of the protest, but those who hate our country… they will meet with a very heavy force.”
The parade is celebrated by the administration as the “largest” military parade in American history.
“We love the military and take great pride in honoring fighter jets,” said Defence Secretary Pete Hegses in a May statement to Pete News. “To celebrate 250 years of the US Army, we cast the largest and most beautiful military parade in our country’s history.”
“The President is planning a historic celebration of the Army’s 250th birthday, honoring a generation of selfless Americans who put everything at risk for our freedom,” Vince Haley, director of the White House National Policy Council, previewed the parade in a comment to Fox Digital in May.
“Just 250 years ago, the first American patriots died due to the cause of independence. We owed freedom to them and to all the lawyers who have given our country life in the second centuries ever since.”

Reagan National Airport will suspend flights for the military parade hosted by Trump next week
Approximately 6,600 US troops were scheduled to participate in the parade. The parade is said to include 150 Army vehicles, including Abram Stanks, and 50 aircraft, including Black Hawks.
There were elevated roads and parachute jumps and historic military re-enacters.

The parade comes after Israel halted nuclear negotiations and subsequent concerns rose and Iran began a preemptive strike in Iran on Thursday evening. The strike targeted Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure and killed at least four Iranian military leaders.
Iran says the strike is a “declaration of war.”
“Two months ago, I gave Iran the ultimate of 60 days to “take a trade.” They should have done it! Today is the 61st day. I told them what to do. Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday before meeting with his National Security Council to discuss the strike.
