The body of fallen Baldwin Park police officer Samuel Liberos was taken to Covina Cemetery on Tuesday in a procession that he remembered.
The flashing glow of the sirens illuminated the 10 highways as the procession headed towards its destination. A series of law enforcement cruisers and motorcycles have moved from Los Angeles to the Forest Lawn Cemetery for a gloomy opportunity.
With the American flag covered in Liberos’ cas, Hase transports Liberos, was greeted with cheers and tears as community members lined up the streets to pay tribute to the fallen officer.
The 35-year-old police officer, who had been in the military for nine years, was fatally shot Saturday while responding to an armed man’s call in the 4200 block of Philist Avenue.
“Our officer was a great guy,” said Baldwin Park Police Chief Robert Lopez. “He was an avid snowboarder and a Dodger fan. One of the interesting things I found is to travel and see the Dodgers perform at stadiums across the United States.”
Eduardo Roberto Medina Belomen, 22, has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of 43-year-old Darius Wong. Law enforcement said the suspect shot Wong in a parking dispute, urging Liberos and his colleagues to respond to the scene.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Liberos and fellow Anthony Pimentel were shot dead by Medina Belomen upon arrival. Both officers were in hospitals and Liberos succumbed to his injuries. Pimentel was then released from the hospital.
