Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a beloved Woodland Hills doctor outside his clinic earlier this year, authorities announced Tuesday.
The victim, Dr. Hamid Mirshoje, 61, was walking to his car outside Warner Plaza Medical Center at Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Oxnard Street on Aug. 24 around 5:30 p.m. While he was there, he was ambushed by a gunman.
The gunman shot him multiple times and then fled on foot to a waiting vehicle before police arrived.
Witnesses heard gunshots and saw the 61-year-old’s body lying on the ground in the parking lot. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
In a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department, homicide detectives said two suspects, 41-year-old Evan Hardman of Tomball, Texas, and 40-year-old Rose Sweeting of Reseda, Texas, were arrested in connection with the targeted attack. announced that he had been arrested.
Both men were arrested Dec. 10 in Sweeting, in the San Fernando Valley, and Hardman, in the greater Houston area, on suspicion of murder, police said.

Detectives did not provide a motive for the shooting, nor did they say whether any of the suspects knew Mirshoje or were ever his patients.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Mirshoje was attacked and beaten with baseball bats by three men “months before” he was shot to death outside his Woodland Hills practice field.

The exact date of the assault was not disclosed, but an employee told the Times that Mirshoje feared for his life afterward.
“They came and beat him with a baseball bat,” the employee, who requested anonymity due to safety concerns, told the Times. “They were strangers we didn’t know.”
It is unclear at this time whether the incident is related to the shooting.
Originally from Iran, Mr. Mirshoje has more than 20 years of experience in providing emergency care and more than 10 years of experience in addiction medicine. His patients included “celebrities, movie stars, athletes, and many people from various walks of life,” according to his biography.
According to reports, at the time of the shooting, his wife was overseas visiting family in Turkey with their 6-month-old baby. She reportedly returned to the United States as soon as she learned that her husband had been murdered.
The investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing, and detectives have released photos of Hardman and Sweeting in hopes that victims of the suspects will come forward.
Homicide detectives plan to submit the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for consideration.
