“The situation is anyone’s guess at this point,” Chris Wolf reported. “Were the victims trapped and incapacitated, unable to evacuate or seek help, or did they simply decide not to leave until it was too late? Either way, the results are heartbreaking.”

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office and homicide detectives will investigate the deaths, but many of the scenes where the bodies were found remain open due to ongoing dangers surrounding the fires, including ignitions, downed power lines, and gas leaks. It remains as it is.

“Information is still very preliminary, but there are multiple deaths in the fire area,” a LASD spokesperson told KTLA. “Once homicide detectives are able to assess the scene, more information will be provided.”

Many fear there will be more such distressing discoveries in the coming days and weeks.
