Days after police arrested several people in the execution-style killing of a Woodland Hills doctor, his grieving brother is speaking out to share his family’s heartbreak and demand justice. There is.
“It looked like a mafia assassination. It’s strange,” the victim’s brother, Dr. Alireza Mirshoje, said in an exclusive interview with KTLA’s Carlos Saucedo. “Somebody really wanted him dead – not injured, but dead. He never saw it coming.”
Alireza’s late brother, Hamid Mirshoce, 61, was shot to death in an “ambush” on August 23 as he walked to his car in the parking lot outside a clinic, Los Angeles police said.
“It’s a huge pain. I can’t express it in words,” Alireza said. “This is a huge loss for me and a huge loss for his children.”
Alireza said her entire family is still in shock amidst the devastation of losing her brother, especially now that the prime suspect has been identified.
Authorities allege that Hamid’s ex-wife, Ahan Mirshoce, also known as Ahan Zarin Kerk, was involved in the shooting. She was one of five people arrested last week in connection with the August murder.
Suspected shooter Evan Hardman was arrested in Texas, and Ashley Sweeting was taken into custody on suspicion of being an accomplice. Police say the murder may have been motivated by financial gain, but no clear motive has been released.
However, Hamid and his ex-wife had been in a bitter legal divorce battle for years. The doctor recently remarried and had a child.
“We were making retirement plans and talking about what we were going to do and how we were going to spend our time,” Alireza said, reflecting on the life her brother wanted to build. “That never happened.”

The loss comes during an already difficult year for the family, with her father battling pancreatic cancer. Alireza said the family remains focused on seeking justice for Hamid.
“My hope is that the murderer will be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” he said. “Life in prison is not enough for them, but it’s what we have.”
The investigation is still ongoing.
