Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has announced that a pair of brothers who were accused of murdering a 66-year-old businessman during an attempted carjacking have been fatally arrested in connection with the fatality.
John Chung Moon, 54, and his sister Cindy Kim, 58, have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Kuo Taemok Garcia in Cerritos. The victim left the car on February 25th and was shot out to take a walk near the Coyote Creek Bike Pass.
There, the brothers are said to have tried to steal Garcia’s car and after he refuses to hand over the keys, they shoot him. According to Hochman, sheriff’s deputies were able to identify the Moon and Kim thanks to a video of the suspect posted on Tiktok.
“It was a pointless and brutal act of violence that took the lives of my husband, father and businessmen who wanted to enjoy a peaceful walk,” District Attorney Hochman said. “My sympathy goes out to his family, grieving this unimaginable loss. We pursue justice to the fullest extent of the law in order to hold them responsible.”
The Lapalma brother is faced with charges, including murder and attempted second-degree robbery. They were arrested Wednesday.
It is unclear whether the defendant has an attorney who can speak on their behalf. The investigation is underway.
