This year’s MTV Video Music Awards are shaking things by handing out two new awards to artists embellished with the Rap and Latin Music genre.

Rapper Busta Rhymes is the first ever MTV VMA Rock the Bells Vishery Award, and Ricky Martin will win the first Latin Icon Award, the VMA announced Monday.

The Rock the Bells Visionary Award celebrates the hip-hopster’s “boundary-breaking cultural influences and indomitable music career.” Since his first performance in 1997, Rymes, who took the VMAS stage at various times, will also perform during the ceremony.

Martin, who began his long history of VMA since his first performance in 1999, will also perform, and will be recognized for his “four-year career that began mainstream in Latin music and culture.”

2025 VMAS will air in the East at 8pm on September 7th and will be performing live from UBS Arena on Long Island, New York.

Nominated for Best New Artist, Best Pop and Song of the Year, Warren will be taking the VMA stage for the first time and will be playing the breakout hit “Normal.” Singer-songwriter and producer newcomer Sombr will also make his awards show debut.

Balvin will perform “Zun Zun” with Latin singers Justin Quills and Renee Tavares, and “Noventa” with producer DJ Snake.

Carpenter, who delivered his debut performance at VMAS last year, will be filming this year’s Home Song of the Year and returning to his “Manchild” performance.

Who will host the VMA?

LL Cool J won, co-hosted and performed on the MTV Video Music Awards stage. Currently a Grammy Award-winning rapper actor-author, will go solo to host the 2025 awards ceremony.

He is re-shooting the stage this time without Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow, co-hosted in 2022, the VMA announced Thursday.

He also won the Best Hip Hop Award for his single “Murdergram Deux,” featuring Eminem. The single was part of his latest album, “The Force,” released in September, and was his first album in 11 years.

LL Cool J is the longtime VMA champion who won the first moon man in 1991. He became the first rapper to win the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.

Yes, the show will be aired for the first time by CBS, simultaneously aired on MTV and will be streamed on Paramount+ in the US.

Who was nominated for the VMA?

Lady Gaga leads this year’s awards with 12 nominations, including Artist of the Year. The “Mayhem” singer was almost tied to Bruno Mars, who had 11 nods. The pair’s duet “Die with a Smile” has won four awards, including Song of the Year.

Many nominations for Gaga nominations, Dethrones Taylor Swift, took the top spot for two years. This time, Swift has received one artist nomination this year. The two will be accompanied by Bad Bunny, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Warren and Weekend in that category.

Gaga and Mars are followed by Lamar, with 10 nominations, eight each, Rose and Carpenter, seven each, Ariana Grande and Weeknd, and six Billy Eilish.

Charli XCX was also loved by five nominations for “Brat” Summer Success “Speculation” featuring Eilish.

Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus and Tate McRae each have four nominations.

How can I vote for VMA?

Fan voting across 19 categories is currently registered on the VMA website. Voting will close at 6pm on September 5th at 6pm in the East, except for the best new artist category that accepts votes for live shows. The public can vote up to 10 times a day until the vote closes.

Who will win the Video Vanguard Award?

The winners of the Video Vanguard Award have not been announced yet. The award was given to Katy Perry last year. Previous recipients include Shakira, Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and Madonna.
