California State Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) and 57 Democrats announced Thursday they would stop communications from official state accounts regarding X.

Rivas’ office said Exodus was one of the biggest departures for officials elected from the platform.
When Musk bought Twitter in 2022, now known as X, he cracked down on spam accounts and tried to welcome the app more into a conservative perspective.
A survey led by doctoral students in Berkeley, California found that X’s hate speech rose by about 50% in the months after Musk acquired the platform.
Elected officials often rely on X to communicate directly with the components, share information in emergencies, and publicly consider policies.
Democrats will continue to communicate with their constituents using Instagram, Facebook, Tiktok, Threads, Bluesky, LinkedIn and YouTube.
