2028 Olympic venue plan

Los Angeles also received a clear photo on Wednesday of where the Olympians compete in Southern California in 2028. LA28 released a list of proposals for the 2028 Olympic venue when members of the organizing committee met with the International Olympic Committee.

Several venues were proposed a few months ago, but LA28 needed an IOC to register on the final list. No new permanent venue will be built for the 2028 Olympics.

Details of the plan presented to the IOC were not immediately available, but include the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area in the San Fernando Valley, the Convention Center, Crypto.com Arena, Carson’s Sports Complex, several sites outside the city of Los Angeles, and canoe slaloms that include canoe slaloms and softball.

In March, Los Angeles City Council approved changes to its first venue plans for the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics. The city approved the INTIAL venue plan in 2017, but the revision was announced in the summer. The amendment requires the consent of the city that has cleared the path to the IOC presentation.

Amid the changes proposed for the summer and approved Friday, basketball will move to Int’t’ Dome in Inglewood, and gymnastics will move to Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles and swim at Sophie Stadium in Inglewood.

The equestrian event appears to be heading towards the Riverside County community in Temecula. This week, the city of Santa Monica announced consultations to host beach volleyball in the coastal city.

Details of the updated Olympic venue plan will be shared by LA28 in the coming days, according to a news release.

The opening ceremony of the 2028 Olympics will be on July 14th, 2028, and will be competing until July 30th, 2028. The LA28 Paralympics begin on August 15th, 2028 and end on August 27th, 2028.
