His campaign confirmed to Fox News Digital that House GOP lawmakers are in the race to become governor of South Carolina on Friday.
Rep. Ralph Norman, a member of the Conservative Freedom Caucus, is scheduled to launch his campaign on Friday at an event in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
As of Friday morning, his unconditional X account had been changed to say “Ralph Norman for the Governor.”
He is the far right fiscal hawk of House GOP, and he joined other like-minded colleagues on the legislative agenda of the sometimes covered leader in the name of seeking more conservative policy victory.

Norman is taking part in a major Republican field that was crowded with his new governor bid. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, Lt. Col. Pamela Evett and state Sen. Josh Kimbrell are also participating in the race.
Meanwhile, Norman House colleague Rep. Nancy Mace (Rs.C.) is also said to be considering a campaign for the governor.
“We wish you good luck today as Rep. Ralph Norman has announced his run for the governor,” Mace said in a statement from X.
Norman previously ran the Warren Norman Company, a commercial real estate development business that his father started.
Before being elected to Congress in a special election in 2017, Norman served at the South Carolina State Capitol from 2009 to 2017.

Norman’s longtime ally of former South Carolina Governor Nicky Haley was the only House Republican to formally support Haley before she dropped out of the race. Norman then highlighted President Donald Trump.
He spoke to Fox News Digital in January 2024 about his support. “When I supported Nikki Haley, I respected Donald Trump to call him, what I was going to do with him, and I decided to do it.”
Norman has been a supporter of Trump’s voice since Haley’s exit. He was recently at the White House earlier this week, with other House Republicans in a reception to celebrate the success of legislative legislation.

Earlier this year, he was part of a conservative group of home freedom and forced a last-minute change to the president’s “big beautiful bill” that he said fell more in line with what Trump actually wanted.
Current South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is also Trump’s ally and has term restriction at the end of 2026.
The president’s support is likely to play a critical role in the Palmetto GOP primary.
