One person was killed and another seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash near Los Angeles on Sunday, authorities confirmed to KTLA.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said it received a call at around 4:09 p.m. at Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw where two people were in critical condition and one was trapped.

Fire crews responded to the area of ​​Don Lorenzo Drive and Stocker Street and began rescuing the trapped passengers. Authorities only described the passenger as a man, believed to be in his 50s.

After the man was pulled from the vehicle, he and a passenger in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital in critical condition, LAFD said. Officials did not immediately release the identities of either patient.

The Los Angeles Police Department investigated the crash and found that a car was traveling southbound on Don Lorenzo Drive, negotiating a right turn onto eastbound Stocker Street, then turning westbound on Stocker Street. It was determined that the vehicle had collided with a second vehicle that was traveling in the area.

The passenger in the first vehicle later died at the hospital. Officials did not say whether the patient was the man who was rescued.

The Los Angeles Police Department said the patient in the second vehicle was reported to be in stable condition, and both drivers appeared to be uninjured.

Details are limited, and authorities have not said whether speed was a factor in the crash or whether there were other passengers in either vehicle.
