Firefighters responding to a fast-moving fire in the Pacific Palisades recovered several memorabilia from a burning home consumed by flames.
Crews from the Los Angeles Fire Department’s 37th Precinct in the Westwood suburb were battling a residential fire on Luckman Lane on Tuesday. There, firefighters were seen recovering about 24 photo albums, a grandfather clock and several other possible antiques from the home.
“I’m just trying to save the pictures,” one firefighter said as he placed an album across the street away from the fire.
NBC4 reporter Karma Dickerson, reporting from the scene, witnessed the heroic actions of the crew.
“They tried to salvage some items that were inside the house,” Dickerson said. “I was watching them carry away family mementos. It was very unusual for them to understand that the home was likely to be lost and to make that a priority.” .”
Firefighters said they hope the items recovered will provide some comfort to those who lost their homeowners.
