Authorities arrested five people in connection with the robbery after a group of robbers plunged their cars into a jewelry store in Anaheim last month.
Bethan Jewelry on Brookhurst Street was looted by more than 12 suspects on June 9, Anaheim Police said. Shortly after the crime, one officer was able to track the escaped vehicle and arrest two suspects.
After recently arresting two additional suspects, police found a fifth suspect in downtown Los Angeles on July 30th. The male suspect had three guns in his car at the time of his arrest and had $20,000 in cash, police said.
Investigators said progress was still being made to capture all suspects, but they refused to say whether a group of suspicious robbers targeting Besan’s gems were connected to the intrusions of other jewelry stores.
When the first robbery happened, investigators realized that there might be a common denominator between the robbers because of the cars being used in the crime.
“I’ve seen some of these vehicles in other robbers I saw on the news, so they may be related,” Matt Sutter told NBCLA last month. “Some vehicles are very specific and we are looking at the possible connections to any of these robbers.”
