NEW YORK (AP) – Former top aide to Sean “Diddy” Combs testified Tuesday that the hip-hop mogul threatened to kill her on the first day of work and lured her at the muzzle when he tried to kill rapper Kid Cudy.
Capricorn Clark’s Combs’ explanation of unstable and violent tendencies began testimony in the third week of a sex trafficking trial in a federal court in Manhattan.
The prosecutor is called Clark, former global brand director at Bad Boy Entertainment at Combs. They work to prove that he led a 20-year, assaulting plot that relies on a code of silence between fierce bodyguards, death threats and horrifying staff to ensure he gets what he wants.
The 55-year-old Combs admits he has not committed any crimes in multiple counts of indictments that denounce him the pattern of abuse against his longtime girlfriend, Cassie. If convicted, he could face 15 years of life in prison.
Clark’s testimony was that Scott Mescudi, Kid Cudi, came a few days later, and Clark told him that in December 2011 he called him from his car outside his house and told him he was angry because Coody was dating singer Kathy.
Clark, who had called Combs a “puff” while testifying, came to her house that morning with a gun and said, “We were about to kill Cudi, so we demanded that we come along with her dressed.
Clark said they rode a black Cadillac Escalade SUV at Kudy’s Los Angeles home. There, Combs and his bodyguard entered the residence while Clark sat in the car and was called Cathy.
Clark testified that Combs told Cassie “he took me with a gun and took me to Cudi’s house to kill him.”
Clark said he heard Kudi in the background of the phone asking, “Is he at my house?” She told Cathy, “Stop him, he will kill himself.”
Kathy told her she couldn’t stop Coody, she recalled.
Combs returned to the car and asked Clark who she was talking to, Clark testified. He grabbed the phone and called out Cathy, she said.
They then heard Kudi’s car come to the road, she said. Combs and his bodyguard return to the car and chase after Cudi, finally giving up when they pass the police car heading to Cudi’s house.
After the intrusion, Clark said that Combs had to convince people with him that “it wasn’t me.”
According to Clark, if he doesn’t convince him, I’ll kill you all,” he said.
Clark told the ju judge that she and Kathy went to Kudy’s house:
She then said she saw it in shock as Combs violently attacked Cassie about her relationship with Cudi.
Combs kicked Cassie into the legs and back with “100% Full Force,” as he cried quietly in the ground outside his home in the fetal position, Clark said.
Clark said her “heart was broken from seeing her hit like that,” and neither she nor Combs’ bodyguard intervened.
This answer prompted objection from Combs’s lawyers, and Judge Arun Subramanian told the ju judge to ignore it.
On Thursday, Kudi testified that she believed she had broken a comb on a brief date with Cathy in December 2011, but they agreed to end the relationship after what happened during the holidays.
US lawyer Aide Mitzi Steiner asked Clark about his employment with Combs between 2004 and 2018. From the first day of work, security staff took him to Central Park after 9pm and said they hadn’t noticed the past history of working with other rappers.
Clark was sometimes unstable and Combs testified that he told her that if her past work for rap rivals became an issue, he had to kill her.
She said she had only had a few weeks at work when Combs appointed her to carry diamond jewels on a flight to Miami.
As a result, she was taken to most empty buildings in Manhattan, where she was given repeated lie detector tests by men who appeared to be five times larger than her size during a five-day stretch.
“He said: “If you fail this test, they’re going to throw you into the East River,” she recalled.
Clark said they eventually got her back to work.
