Tim Myers, a founding member of Band One Republic, took part in the race for the Lieutenant Governor of California.

“Tim is running for governor to fix the broken political system against the working class, dominated by career politicians and special interests,” his campaign said in the announcement.

Myers runs as a Democrat.

Golden State’s second-place position has traditionally been considered a stepping stone to governor.

Gov. Gavin Newsom served as lieutenant governor for eight years until 2019, and current Lieutenant Colonel Eleni Kounalakis is running for governor as Newsom is being released.

This is not the first time Myers has made it to public office. He previously announced his intention to oppose Ken Calvert, a Republican lawmaker representing the districts of the Inland Empire. The campaign website is currently inactive.

Myers is Treasurer Fiona Ma, Newsom Advisor Josh Friday, former Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, California State Commission member Mike Schaefer, California Sen. Stephen Bradford, and all of them Democrats.
