Good news for the millions of drivers on America’s roads. Gasoline prices are falling. The American Automobile Association (AAA) recently announced that the national average for a gallon of gasoline has reached a three-year low.
As of Sunday, the national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.01, according to AAA. This is the lowest figure in more than three years, the Japan Motor Vehicle Agency reports.
AAA made the announcement Thursday as gas prices fell to an average of $3.03 per gallon. However, after a few days, the price fell further, approaching the $3 level last recorded on May 11, 2021, according to AAA.
“The national average is attractively close to dropping below $3 per gallon and could do so within days,” AAA spokesman Andrew Gross said in a news release. “However, 32 states already have averages below or well below $3. Hockley County, Texas appears to have the lowest county average at $2.30.”
As of Sunday, AAA said the states with the highest average gas prices were:
Hawaii ($4.56/gal) California ($4.39) Washington ($3.99) Nevada ($3.66) Oregon ($3.53) Alaska ($3.46) Washington DC ($3.22) Pennsylvania ($3.21) Illinois ($3.20) Arizona ($3.18)
Meanwhile, the lowest ones were listed as follows:
Oklahoma ($2.52/gal) Mississippi ($2.62) Texas ($2.63) Arkansas ($2.63) Kansas ($2.67) Missouri ($2.69) Tennessee ($2.70) Iowa ($2.70) Louisiana ($2.73) Kentucky ( $2.74)
