The multivehicle hit and rank rush on LA Freeway Tuesday afternoon led to a police shooting in which we usd traffic, manhunt, at least one man was arrested in underwear, two suspects still loose suspects and a non-coefficient woman hospitalised.
Officers of the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a crash of three cars in the eastbound lane of the 134 Highway west of Figueroa in the Eagle Rock area around 3pm.
Preliminary reports suggest that at least three men escaped the scene on foot in one of the vehicles involved, prompting LA police to call backup.
Brothers and sisters Alana Altmeyer and Guy Bin, who were traveling the highway, told KTLA’s Mary Beth McDade that they saw one of the suspects walking away from the crash.
“I saw a gentleman walking on his shoulders,” explained Altmeyer. “So my brother and I were going and thinking he was going to leave the scene of the accident.”
When the pair chased him she said the man tried to run to the other side of the highway.
“He was bleeding from his head, his mouth and knees,” added Altmeyer.
Despite his injuries, the suspect was reportedly still able to jump over the side of the highway and run down the embankment.
“I chased him next to the highway, over the highway, over a few fences,” Bin told KTLA. “He had a bag and a sweater. I got his bag. I couldn’t keep up with the guy because his sweater and I were so old. I chased him into the park and I lost him.”
LA police eventually caught up with a suspect near the intersection of Waldo Place and Eagle Vista Drive.

A while later, the same armed woman and another woman were later identified as her babysitter and she lifted her hands out of the residence. The pair were ordered down the driveway and into the street where they were taken into custody without further incident.
Investigators determined that the gun-armed woman was a homeowner and not a suspect in a hit-and-run on the 134 highway. She was relegated to medical personnel along with the LA Fire Department, which was waiting in the area, and was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Both she and her babysitter were released from police custody.
Firefighters said a woman involved in a multicar crash on the highway suffered moderate injuries and was taken to hospital.
Police said two of the male suspects who fled the scene of the crash on the 134 highway were still there.
