Precipitation forecasters can win free snow passes and hundreds of free accommodations by predicting the first big snow of the season at Big Bear Lake.
Visit Big Bear invites the public to help predict a day when at least 6 inches of snow will fall in the area within the next 24 hours.
The “Guess the Next Big Bear Snowfall Contest” began Friday with prizes including four passes to Big Bear Snow Play and a $250 stay gift certificate to participating properties.
“This is a great promotion for anyone who’s been messing with their weather apps and itching for some powder,” said Travis Scott, CEO of Visit Big Bear. “Fresh snow is always a winner and the winner of the contest wins a great grand prize.”

To enter, visit the online contest page and submit a forecast for a day when at least 6 inches of natural snow will fall in your area, measured at the Big Bear Lake Visitor Center. Deadline for entries is January 8, 2025.
Those who answer correctly will win the grand prize in a blind lottery. Prizes must be redeemed during the 2024-25 winter season.
Scott said while Big Bear residents and visitors are looking forward to fresh powder, snow recreation is going well at local mountain resorts thanks to low snowfall and artificial snow.

Big Bear Mountain Resort’s first new chairlift in more than 30 years opened Thursday at Bear Mountain. The $10.2 million midway lift, a six-person high-speed lift, will replace chairs 2 and 5 in the central base area, officials said. The new lift increases uphill capability, providing ride times of two and a half minutes and carrying 3,200 people per hour.
As Big Bear Mountain Resort continues to expand chairlift and trail access, Big Bear Snow Play also plans to open additional snow tubing trails in the coming weeks.
“Big Bear is definitely preparing for a snowstorm, and we hope this engaging contest will keep snow top of mind and keep everyone thinking about snow,” Scott added.
