Hip-hop megastar Jay-Z has strongly denied accusations in a lawsuit that he and fellow entertainer Sean “Diddy” Combs raped a 13-year-old girl more than 20 years ago.
The complaint, originally filed against Combs in October, was amended in New York federal district court on Sunday to add Jay-Z as a defendant. They allege they “took turns assaulting a minor” at a party after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
In a statement released Sunday by Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, Jay-Z attacked Tony Buzbee, the anonymous accuser’s attorney.
“These allegations are so heinous in nature that we request that criminal charges be filed rather than civil charges,” the statement said. “Anyone who commits such crimes against minors should be locked up. Don’t you agree?”
The statement said the allegations in the lawsuit are “ridiculous” and would be laughable “if not for the seriousness surrounding the harm to children.”
“You made a terrible error in judgment by assuming that all celebrities are the same,” the statement said. “I’m not from your world. I’m a successful young man from the Brooklyn projects. We don’t play those types of games. We have very strict codes and honor. We protect our children.”
Federal prosecutors indicted Combs in September on charges including sex trafficking and extortion. He pleaded not guilty.
Buzbee, a Texas-based attorney, has filed multiple lawsuits against Combs since his arrest. The attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
An anonymous celebrity sued Buzbee in Los Angeles County Superior Court in November, accusing him of threatening the lawyer with “revealing completely fabricated and egregious sexual assault allegations” if he did not participate in a “secret mediation.” did. According to the complaint, Buzbee alleged that the celebrity raped “multiple drugged minors, both male and female, at a party sponsored by Combs.”
On Sunday, Buzbee fired back at Jay-Z on social media: Mr. Carter has previously denied that he was the one who brought the charges against me and my company.
