A man from the Jurupa Valley died at least two people in the crash of two vehicles and others were arrested on charges of manslaughtering a general vehicle while drunk after being injured early Saturday, officials confirmed.
It was around 2:50am when a Jurupa Valley lawmaker responded to an unknown in-secretary traffic collision call at the intersection of Limonite Avenue and Beach Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the RSO, the two vehicles were called vans and lawmakers arrived to find two vehicles blocking the eastbound lanes of Limonite Avenue, west of Beach Street.
Although details about the crash are limited, investigators say the van had several unconfined passengers at the time of the crash. Two of the van passengers “had obvious signs of trauma,” the RSO said, and authorities declared they had died on the scene. Their identity has not been released and notification to the next relative is pending.
“Both drivers were injured and taken from the scene to a local hospital, along with additional passengers from the van,” the sheriff’s office said. “At the end of the investigation on the scene, van driver Brian Cruz Arenas, a 23-year-old resident of the Jurupa Valley, was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for two counts of drunkenness and two general vehicle manslaughter charges driving drunk under the influence that caused death/injury.”
There was a temporary closure on Limonite Avenue after the crash, but was lifted around 11:55am.
Anyone who witnessed a traffic collision or has information about the incident is encouraged to call 951-776-1099 for a dispatch of the Deputy Lynnfoot at Yulpa Valley Sheriff’s Station on 951-955-2600 or the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
