The owner of the Los Angeles Times appeared on Tucker Carlson’s podcast in an episode released Wednesday, clarifying his plans to pilot the paper in a more conservative direction.
Dr. Patrick insisted to far-right Carlson that the paper he purchased in 2018 was too liberal. For example, he highlighted the resignation of editorial committee members after blocking the support of former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
“I said, ‘This is unacceptable.’ And, as you can see, it’s left lean, so they wrote a terrible story about the president. [Donald] Trump said, as Politico reported, “You may have an opinion, but you should have an opinion based on facts.”
Soon-Shiong told Carlson that the times have suffered as a result, but he believes he is doing the right thing.
“We lost a lot of viewers,” Soon-Shiong said. “Thousands of people are not registered. But I don’t think it’s right for us to cancel this cancelled society.”
Soon-Shiong calls the media more “fair and balanced.” That phrase was the long-standing motto of right-leaning Fox News.
