The judge plans to hear California lawsuits against the Trump administration over the use of the military in Los Angeles on Thursday, so Attorney General Rob Bonta said the court believes what the state said is “appropriate.”
“Trump is involved in an illegal grip of power in violation of the US Constitution,” Bonta told NBC Los Angeles on Wednesday about the president’s decision to send thousands of National Guard and 700 Marines from Twentin Palms.
Earlier on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Justice responded to a lawsuit filed by the state this week, adding that the National Guard and Marines are supposed to bring “orders” to Los Angeles, adding that the Los Angeles Police Department and other law enforcement agencies “wouldn’t want to control or have no motivation.”
“The LA Police Department (“LAPD”) and other local and state law enforcement agencies have failed to bring order to the city,” the US DOJ said.
However, the state attorney general disputed the allegations, saying that the National Guard arrived in Los Angeles last weekend and on a “quiet street.”
“The fiction promoted by the federal government is crazy with uncontrolled uncontrolled rebellion and invasion,” Bonta said.
