The Seattle home of rapper Macklemore was taken away by a masked man who attacked his nanny with bear spray over the weekend, police said.
Seattle police were sent to the house after a call from a woman who identified herself as a nanny at 12:48am on Saturday and said two men had been broken.
The police report edited the name of the homeowner but said it belongs to “highly known individuals.” The addresses listed in the report appeared to match Macklemore’s voting record, the Seattle Times reported. Some of the reports left behind the surname “Davis,” the same surname as Macklemore’s wife.
It is not clear whether the artist whose real name is Ben Hagerty was at home at the time. He performed in Ireland on June 4th and 5th.
The nanny told police that the break-in occurred after putting the children to bed upstairs. She said she was on the main floor when she saw “two men in the patio door.”
The man was wearing a mask, black outfit, a tactical, gloves-like vest, carrying a can of bear mace, she told police.
Police reports say the taller man ordered the shorter man to “spray her” and he did. He then tried to help clean it from her face, the nanny told the police, “She looked at his eyes and thought he was afraid.”
The nanny said the tall man cried out, “Where is the jewel?” According to police reports.
The woman pointed them towards the main bedroom of the house, where she pulled out, passed through cabinets and closets, police said. The nanny told police that, according to the police report, “they took a picture of many of the watches, jewellery items and shoes they had in bags.”
She was ordered to raise her hands and turn her face towards the mirror, police said. At one point, the short man threw her on the ground, put her boots on her ankles, and called her at the back of her neck, she told police.
The nanny began screaming, pinned to the wall, with a short one still holding its mouth closed, the police report said. She tried to kick a short one at the gro caliber but couldn’t see it, so she bit into his hand and let him go. The nanny then ran out of the house and knocked on the doors of numerous neighbors before someone opened the door and called police, the report said.
By the time police searched the house and took the children away, the man was gone, officials said. The family arrived and took the children to a nearby residence.
Passersby told responding officers he saw a man wearing a black man running westward through the north yard of the house.
NBC News reached out to a Macklemore representative for comment.
Macklemore is married to Tricia Davis and shares three young children.
