Authorities announced Thursday that they have arrested a 19-year-old man accused of fatally shooting four people during a house fire in Lancaster.
The shooting was reported Saturday at a home in the 44500 block of North Tabler Avenue in the northern Los Angeles County community. Firefighters were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. and extinguished the fire.
Three people died at the scene. The fourth person died at the hospital.
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified two of the shooting victims as Christine Asa-Ka, 26, and Edwin Garcia, 24. On Tuesday, the coroner’s office identified the third person who died at the scene as Lancaster man Jambi Makindan, 21, and the fourth person also died at the hospital at 11:59pm on Sunday. The suspect was identified by deputies Thursday as Matthew Montebello.
Investigators later identified Miguel Sandoval as the suspect and took him into custody.
Sheriff’s officials said the case has been submitted to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and formal charges are pending.
It is unclear at this time whether there was a relationship between the suspect and the victim.
“Investigators believe this was an isolated incident,” the sheriff’s office said. “This incident remains an active investigation and in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation, no further details regarding the incident will be shared.”
