The man is in danger after being shot by a deputy in a parking lot in Laguna Hills on Saturday morning, officials confirmed with KTLA.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department said deputies answered a disturbance call from a man walking around with two knives in a commercial parking lot around 8:03 a.m.

When deputies arrived in the areas of Ridge Route Drive and Moulton Parkway, they found a man armed with at least one knife.

Although details are limited, officials said the armed suspect “moved” on one of the deputies, resulting in a shooting involving a deputy.

The department did not reveal any further information about the encounter, but said authorities provided medical assistance to the man on the scene before taking him to a local hospital.

On Saturday evening, the man who was not immediately identified was in danger.

“No other suspects were involved in the initial service call or the shooting involving a deputy,” the department added. “No one was injured during the incident.”

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office will investigate shootings involving a deputy.
