The official Michelin guide ceremony will not take place in Sacramento until June 25th, but the multinational Tire Company has added three more notable LA County restaurants to its guide. All additions are considered “recommended” and will receive Michelin Star or Bib Gourmand (the guide’s budget-friendly category) later this year.

In Greater Los Angeles, three restaurants created guides. Komal is a street stall focused on Masa from two Holbox alumni in Mercadra Paloma, Southern. The second is Somni from West Hollywood, Los Angeles’ most expensive restaurant. Founded in 2018 by Jose Andres, the Spanish modernist tasting menu held two Michelin stars in previous iterations. Last fall, former daily lead Aitor Zabala revived Somni as an independent project. The third one is Vin Folk. This is a small South Baby Bistro run by two Somni alumni, offering casual bistro dishes with fine dining flares and a perfect wine list.

Elsewhere in the state, Michelin has recognized restaurants like Sungo and Atelier Manna, homely Korean spots in San Francisco. The guide describes it as a “hipster haven” that focuses on local ingredients. Three more restaurants in San Diego County made the cuts. Tanner’s Prime Burger and Oceanside’s 24 Sun and Carlsbad’s Lilo.

Two months ago, Michelin added seven other LA restaurants to its guide. Among them were Baretweil in East Hollywood, West Rao Macas Counter Morinozomi and Tomatt in West Chester.
