Firefighters had to extinguish at least three fires between late Tuesday night and Wednesday, including a carport fire at a Sherman Oaks apartment complex that destroyed at least five cars. Also included.
On Tuesday night, just before 10:30 p.m., a person can be seen on video climbing into a carport and heading towards a white car.
When the person moves a little and leans forward, you will see a bright orange light coming from where the person’s hand was.
Ring’s video skipped for two minutes, at which point the entire carport burst into flames.
The man panicked and ran out of the apartment.
The resident who shared the Ring video said he showed it to arson investigators and asked to remain anonymous.
He said he now needs to think about where to stay.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said multiple cars were on fire in a carport behind an apartment complex.
Windows in at least two of the apartments were broken and electrical panels and power lines were damaged.
Video showed neighbors desperately trying to save each other from the out-of-control blaze and evacuating their pets within seconds as the fire spread through the house.
About 45 minutes after the fire, a large trash compactor at World Market, less than a mile away, was completely engulfed in flames.
Video showed crews trying to extinguish the high flames and using ladders to climb over them. That compactor is a total loss.
An hour and a half later, the converted garage on Columbus Avenue North, just behind World Market, was completely engulfed in bright orange flames.
Firefighters could be seen sprinting through the streets with hoses to prevent the inferno from spreading to any homes.
It is unclear why someone started the fire or if it was the same person who started two other fires overnight.
