Police on Thursday released new details and footage of the driver they believe hit and killed a 57-year-old man in the San Fernando Valley last month.
The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect driving a newer white Dodger Charger during a fatal hit-and-run on November 27th.
According to a news release issued by the Los Angeles Police Department, the unidentified victim was crossing Terra Bella Street at Dorrington Avenue around 9:20 p.m. when he was seen driving westbound on Terra Bella at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle collided with a pedestrian.
Police said the driver fled westbound and failed to stop to render aid to the victim, as required by law. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles Police Department said in an update Thursday that after the crash, the driver turned onto various side streets several times before fleeing southbound on Woodman Avenue.
“The driver then drove the vehicle to a parking lot in the 8900 block of Woodman Avenue, where it was seen being towed away on November 29, 2024,” the LAPD release states.
The department also noted that in April 2015, the Los Angeles City Council amended the city’s Administrative Code to create the Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund, which provides rewards of up to $50,000 to local residents who provide information leading to hit-and-run incidents. He also pointed out that it was provided. Suspect identification, arrest, and conviction.
