Originally from Fairmont, West Virginia, Letton made history as a US gymnast, especially at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he received just two perfect 10 scores after undergoing knee surgery.
She also made headlines in 2023 after being admitted to the intensive care unit while fighting pneumonia, urging her to set up a crowdfunding page to help her daughter pay for her medical bills. The fund raised $200,000 in a day, but received criticism from people who questioned her lack of insurance. She was released from the hospital a few weeks later.
